II.
Fundraising: Ed Bucks
a. Each member is required to sell two booklets.
b. You may request more booklets! The member who sells
the most will receive a $25 gift card to Borders Book Store.
c.
It works like
this:
i.
You sell a
booklet of 60 Ed Bucks for $10.00.
ii.
Each Ed Buck
equal $1.00 at participating business.
iii.
(see www.SpendforEd.org and look under “Business Directory” for complete
list of participating businesses)
iv.
Can be used at
places like Dunkin Donuts, Johnny Rockets, Au Bon Pan,
Milams, Navarro, Ibiley
School Uniforms, and more.
v.
Money due: December 15th.
III.
Book Drive
a.
Now through
Dec. 14th
b.
First
grade-level books in new or gently used condition
c.
Drop off to
the Media Center
d.
Spread the
word! Give a teacher a flyer to post and ask to speak to the class about it.
e.
We will be
donating these books to South Miami K-8 first grade classroom libraries

Toy Drive
a.
Now through
Dec. 14th
b.
We are
assisting South Miami K-8 with their Toys for Tots Toy Drive
c.
Bring a new
unwrapped toy for ages 5-10
d.
Drop Off at
the Media Center
e.
See attached
handout for suggested items.
f.
Help less
fortunate children have a happy holiday.
g.
I need
volunteers to make a drop off box.
h.
I need
broadcast students to please announce this.
V.
Field Trip to South Miami K-8: Wednesday, Dec. 15th
(A-Day), 7:30-11:30
a. We will be reading to first graders and sorting toys
from their toy drive.
b. Only the first 30 students who return forms will be
able to attend.
c.
All students
who go on this field trip need to bring one first-grade level book to read and
donate. It can be used in good condition. You can find books like this at the Goodwill
store for less than $2.00.
VI. Next Book: A
Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
a. The book has been ordered. We are very low on money—please sell those
Ed-Bucks! I hope they will be in by the
second week of January.
b. The public library has several copies of this
book. Please make use of them, too.
c.
We will have our
discussion for this book on Friday, Feb. 11th.
